Polestar 2 with Enhanced Power Available for $49,900
Polestar has released pricing details for the upgraded 2024 Polestar 2, and it appears that customers will receive greater value for their money. The electric sedan now starts at $49,900 for a long-range single motor variant with rear-wheel drive, which is arguably the more appealing model. It features a new 299HP motor, an increase of 68HP from the previous version, and is estimated to have a combined EPA range of 320 miles and faster 205kW charging. The car can reach 60MPH in 5.9 seconds, making it considerably more thrilling than previous front-wheel drive models.
The four-wheel-drive tall twin-engine Polestar 2 starts at $55,300. A rear engine upgrade bumps this up to 421 horsepower and a longer range of 276 miles with a 0-60 MPH time of 4.3 seconds. You’ll have to settle for ‘only’ 155kW charging, but you also get the previously $3400 Pilot Pack as standard. This package includes a host of driver assistance features, including adaptive cruise control and emergency stop assist.
All trim levels now have driver aids for blind spots, cross traffic and parking, as well as 360-degree cameras and auto-dimming side mirrors. The Plus Pack is priced at $2,200 ($2,000 less) and includes cold-weather upgrades (like a zone-friendly heat pump) and a Harman Kardon audio and air quality system. Priced so far, the Performance Pack includes low-drag Brembo brakes, new alloy wheels, adjustable Öhlins dampers and 455 hp, which propels the car to 60 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
Deliveries start in August. The new Polestar 2 qualifies for a $7,500 federal lease credit. Canadians will get a better deal if they’re planning to buy — their single-engine version starts at CAD 54,950 ($41,317) and is eligible for a $5,000 CAD figure.
Aggressive updates are not surprising. The Polestar now faces tougher competition than when the 2 first reached customers, including the cheaper Tesla Model 3 (currently starting at $40,240). An improved electric car might cost more than its most obvious competitor, but you also get a longer range and more safety features. The performance is mostly even.
